Hi, I’m Joanne Ashton.

About Me
I am an HCPC-registered podiatrist with over 30 years’ clinical experience.
I qualified as a podiatrist in 1990 and spent 10 years working in the NHS, where I developed a particular interest in biomechanics and custom orthoses. I made orthoses as part of that clinical practice.
Istarted the clinic in 2002, originally under a different name, and it has continued to evolve into Footworks Podiatry. Many of my patients have been part of my working life ever since.
My experience includes orthotic care, children’s foot care, diabetic foot care, ingrowing toenail surgery, verruca treatment, routine podiatry.
More recently, I have developed specialist treatment skills including 3D printed orthoses, Swift microwave treatment for verrucae, and Clearanail treatment for fungal nails. These treatments require careful assessment, technical skill, and experience to use well.
I practise what I preach, usually in my own slightly odd, but foot friendly, shoes.
You may also meet Charlie, my 46-year-old rescue bird, who comes to work with me and stays in the waiting room. He is part of the Footworks character, but please keep your fingers away.
He goes to bed at 5 pm, so you will not usually see him after that.
